FREQUENT QUESTIONS

what class

We have designed a class-level system to ensure that each client receives personalized attention and maximizes the benefits of their Pilates sessions. With a group size limited to five clients per class, we are able to offer individualized feedback to optimize your experience. Our progressive system includes the following levels: Fundamentals, Open Level, Stretch + Strengthen, and Intermediate. This structure is key to fostering continued growth in the Pilates method.

Regardless of your fitness level, we believe that mastering specific foundational skills is essential for progressing to higher levels. This approach ensures the safety of your movement, particularly when using the spring resistance, while maintaining the flow of the class for all participants. By adhering to this system, we prioritize both the effectiveness and safety of your Pilates practice.

The best way to begin your journey at the studio is by taking advantage of our NEW CLIENT 3-pack of private sessions. This package allows you to gain a solid understanding of the Pilates method, regardless of your fitness level. It sets you up for success in group classes by eliminating the initial uncertainty about how to use equipment such as the footbar, push-through bar, or how to adjust the springs on the chair. After these sessions, the instructor will recommend either fundamental or open-level classes, to help you transition smoothly into group sessions.

All new clients must begin with fundamental equipment classes. We recommend attending at least twice a week to effectively learn the exercises and flow of the class. Your frequency of practice at the studio will influence your progression through the levels. Some clients may only attend once a week and remain in the fundamentals group for an extended period, which is perfectly fine, as we continuously fine-tune and build upon their practice as needed. Others who attend 3-4 times a week may progress at a faster pace. There is no set timeline for progression, as various factors contribute to each individual's journey.

As the group progresses, the instructor will gradually introduce intermediate exercises into the fundamental classes. If the same clients stay within the same group, we will adapt and advance the class to match the group's development.

*Participation in intermediate classes requires prior approval from the instructor. If you have not previously worked with us, we kindly ask that you refrain from booking these classes.

*If you are pregnant or early postpartum, it is important to inform us so we can provide the best guidance for your practice. We recommend booking private sessions to create a customized Pilates routine that supports you through pregnancy and postpartum recovery. If you prefer to stay in group classes, we suggest a few private sessions to learn the necessary modifications as your pregnancy progresses. If you have not previously practiced Pilates with us, we ask that you wait until after childbirth to begin your Pilates journey. It is crucial to have a solid understanding of the method before pregnancy to ensure a safe and effective progression for your body.

  • Mind | Body - Feeling safe in movement comes from building confidence in your nervous system, allowing you to find balance and coordination throughout each exercise. This process fosters both physical and mental endurance, enhancing your core strength and concentration.

  • Pilates Proficiency - As you progress, you will develop a deeper understanding of the cues used during class and the principles of Pilates. This will allow the instructor's guidance to become less frequent, while you take on greater ownership of your practice, with a stronger connection to your body.

  • Safety - You will be given the tools to learn how to modify an exercise that works for you body so the flow of the group continues to grow, knowing the appropriate springs, the set up and transition of each exercise. This is vital to allow all clients to work effectively during each session.

  • The Flow - As you advance, the exercises are not removed, but rather, additional exercises are introduced within the same time frame. Therefore, it is essential to be fully comfortable with the fundamentals before progressing. This ensures your body can continue to move mindfully and safely, as the instructor will have less time to explain the execution of foundational exercises.
